The neglected costs of ultra-processed products on
the economy and the environment in Canada

This project funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation consists of evaluating the coherence of agricultural and nutritional policies in the prevention of overweight, obesity and non-communicable diseases linked to poor diet in Canada.

On the one hand, it will describe the vision of stakeholders within the two departments on the role of ultra-processed foods in the diet and health of Canadians.

On the other hand, to assess the policy support and infrastructure provided by the Ministry of Agriculture to farmers so that they produce food in accordance with the recommendations of Canada's Food Guide.

 

This project is developed by Sabrina Rimouche, doctoral candidate in the nutrition department of the Université de Montréal.
